Macica F-style Mandolin-2010 Steer-horn binding

This mandolin is 1 of 3 Florentine mandolins that I made using real Longhorn Steer binding.  I have referred to these mandolins as the “three brothers”. This is the last one remaining from those three instruments.  This mandolin is completely handcrafted using all natural materials.  I used Hyde glue for the binding and joining, hand applied rich oil varnish, ivory nut and truss rod cover and a Wooley mammoth 15th fret marker.  This mandolin has a double sandwiched ebony head stock, ebony fingerboard and pick guard with mother-of-pearl and abalone inlay. The frets won’t wear out because they are stainless steel.  This instrument has a Allen tailpiece and Waverly tuners. The volume on the inside is the same as a Loar. The thickness at the nut is 1 1/8 inch wide. The finger board is  a 9″ 12″ radius with custom ebony and brass tuners.  The sound is even across the board.  It has a great mid-range with good focus and plenty of volume.  The top is Sitka Spruce with a spalted Cherry back and Maple neck and sides.
