Blog #34; Refurbiishing Violins/Caffe Lena

Hello!  Back from the holidays and ready to get blogging…  I am trying to be more of a avid blogger, though it doesn’t come too easy for me, I will try to post a blog more often.  I hope you all had a nice Holiday season.  We had a nice, quiet Christmas with family and friends.

In the workshop, I am working on refurbishing many older violins that I have collected over the years for deserving and aspiring musicians.  I will be listing many of these on Ebay to see how they sell through that venue.  I’ve been doing such things as giving the instruments a good set up, cutting bridges, fixing pegs, minor repairs,  putting on strings and finishing up with a nice french polish.

Other news…  I will be taking part in the Bill Monroe Tribute at Caffe Lena (in Saratoga Springs) on Friday, January 13.   I will be playing a couple Bill Monroe tunes as well as having a display with pictures from my time with Mr. Monroe years back.  I have some great pictures of him playing one of my mandolins at the Grand Ol Oprey.  I will also have one of my recent Macica Mandolins on display.  I hope to see you there!  Martin
