Blog #43: Starting the Violin/Scroll
Today I started my next commission..a violin. I picked out the wood with the customer last week. I like the choice of wood; a one piece back with a European Spruce top. I got a good start on the day.. I glued the block onto the mold and made some progress on the scroll. I think I have made at least 8 violins on this particular mold. It is a Strad pattern. I do love making violins..it is so rooted in the Renaissance where it is workmanship and craft as well as art.
Enjoy the pics.
