Blog #6: Binding and Marker Dots

Blog #6:  Hello all!  A beautiful Spring day here in upstate!  The trees in our back orchard are in bloom-a beautiful sight!  Today I am working on the fingerboard (9″ radius down to 12″ on the end).  I’m also still finishing up on the steer horn binding-seems to be the most time-consuming part, but it is worth it!  I have also been working on the marker dots and installing them into the fingerboard. This mandolin is all made entirely in my shop, not relying on any pre-made supplies minus the Waverly tuners, Allen tailpiece and Stew Mac frets.  I am still working on the finish-work on a couple repairs..here a little..there a little.  They are coming along nicely!

Until next time,

Marty
