Hello everyone! It has been a while since I last blogged. It has been a busy week of repairs from local schools ect.. to finish up in the shop.
I am still making progress on the A-style mandolin. I have finished the arching on both the top and the back.
The top is just as beautiful as the back. Adirondack spruce, in my opinion, is the wood of choice for mandolin tops. The next step, is to carve out the inside of the plates.
Tuning the plates, is really where I key into the personality of the wood. As far as sound and play ability are concerned, doing the work by hand ensures that all the key elements that go into these, are the best for each individual instrument. That is all for now..
