Blog #18: Bridge
Hello! Its starting to feel like fall here in upstate New York!
In the workshop, its now time to make the bridge for the commission I am working on. I start with the base. I like to make it fit perfectly to the top by using chalk and a thin tracing paper. I lightly affix the paper to the top and draw in the correct position. Then I rub chalk on the general area where the bridge is placed and start rubbing. I use a thumb plane to carve away all the high spots where the chalk is rubbing. When all the area of the bottom of the bridge is covered in chalk, you now have a perfect fit. Until next time, Martin
