Hello everyone! I've got to say, the weather here in upstate is great! I know we didn't have much of a winter, but I am looking forward to Spring. Well... in the workshop, the plates for the violin commission I am working on are graduated and tuned.
I cut out the f-holes using my coping saw and sharp bridge knife. Cutting out the f-holes had such a flow to it!
Preparing to Cut
I have the Bass bar in position and glued in. This helps support the G string side and transmits the bass note through the top.

Now I am ready to close the box.

I am also working on the scroll. The scroll lends itself to the artistic expression of flow and beauty.

I want you all to know I do appreciate your comments. I think in this day and age in which we live, when people are so far removed from process...this Blog is a helpful tool to involve people with the process of instrument making. Enjoy!
