Workshop News-Summer 2024
Greetings from The Macica Workshop! It has been quite a long time since my last Blog post. The workshop is busy between teaching classes, making instruments and keeping up with repairs and restorations too. I always look forward to this season of festivals and getting out seeing old friends, meeting new people and playing music together.

The Macica Workshop: May News
Greetings from The Macica Workshop and happy Spring to you all!
We spent a few weeks traveling around Italy in April. One of the places we spent some time in was Cremona…
The city of Cremona has a strong musical tradition. Famous for its violin making craftsmanship and the fact that it produces more stringed instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and guitars than any other place in the world.
The town became renowned for the violins and other musical instruments that were made here (many members of the Stradivari, Amati, Guarneri and Bergonzi families of luthiers were all prominent citizens of Cremona), and was also well known for its concert bands.
Today Cremona, with its over 130 luthier shops, is the reference point for international lutherie, born here 500 years ago…
We were able to spend time both at the Museo del Violino and at the Academia Cremonensis (Violin Making School). I was very inspired by what I learned there and look forward to implementing it into my work.
