Greetings from The Macica Workshop and happy Spring to you all!
We spent a few weeks traveling around Italy in April. One of the places we spent some time in was Cremona…
The city of Cremona has a strong musical tradition. Famous for its violin making craftsmanship and the fact that it produces more stringed instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and guitars than any other place in the world.
The town became renowned for the violins and other musical instruments that were made here (many members of the Stradivari, Amati, Guarneri and Bergonzi families of luthiers were all prominent citizens of Cremona), and was also well known for its concert bands.
Today Cremona, with its over 130 luthier shops, is the reference point for international lutherie, born here 500 years ago…
We were able to spend time both at the Museo del Violino and at the Academia Cremonensis (Violin Making School). I was very inspired by what I learned there and look forward to implementing it into my work.

November: 28 (teaching class at ADK Folk School this month)

Upcoming Events this Spring/Summer:
This Saturday, May 27th 12-8 pm. in Richmondville, NY at Summit Lake is a Family Funday. I will be selling my instruments as well as some paintings from local painter Sue Reynolds and mosaics from local mosaic artist Kim Macica. Hope to see you there!
